Tainan Art Museum exhibition

My audio documentary from 2018, 家庭工廠 Jiātíng Gōngchǎng, and a companion sound sculpture piece, 餘留剩磁 Remanent Trace, are currently being exhibited at Tainan Art Museum, Building 2. The group show curated by 蕭楷競 Kai Ching Hsiao is titled 永聲花—無盡的聲音風景 The Eternal Soundscape—A Myriad of Everlasting Memories.

聲響的採集與收錄,可比擬為永生花的製作過程,在鮮花盛放時摘取,凋零前固色、塑型,盡可能保存貼近於自然且真實的樣貌。當人們經由聽覺感知(auditory perception perceive)與特定的情節記憶(episodic memory)產生聯覺共鳴時,便會下意識的將聲響重新模擬成相似的視覺圖像,此時生命個體便能從廣大的時光莊園中汲取養分,生長為無與倫比的「永聲花」,為特定故事毅然綻放。

聲音的傳遞與接收,在物理上本受限於空間與距離的邊界範圍之中,伴隨著聲波能量的遞減而逐漸削弱至無。自十九世紀中葉開始,適逢第一次工業革命(Industrial Revolution)末期,聲波振記器(phonautograph)的發明使人類能透過儀器繪製出聲波軌跡,並隨著改良與生產,使得聲音得以被隨身攜帶至特定場域,甚而跨時空的進行播放。當我們以視覺觀看藝術時,舉目四望便能端詳作品整體的形式、色彩與線條;然透過聽覺,則將受限於聲音的時間性,藉由訊息的強度、音調、音色與長度,進行接收、感受與思考。收錄當下的環境音或許與重現的聲音雷同,但經過錄製方式、收錄設備、播放設備與環境的不同,則可能與最初的聲響產生差異,此時聲音的客觀性是否存在?其所引發的記憶聯覺與價值又該如何定義?

「永聲花—無盡的聲音風景」邀請藝術家Nigel Brown、吳修銘、吳燦政、郭佩奇、莊普、蔡坤霖(依筆畫順序排列)依場域空間進行現地製作,將聆聽作為生活感知間的主要媒介,透過創作者與時局交會的生命經驗,使臺灣豐富的聲音地景得以成為地方認同與文化溯源的一道路徑,當觀者品味著不同時代情感記憶的同時,也能試圖定義各自心中「永聲花」的樣子。 

The collection and recording of sounds can be compared to the process of making eternal flowers--picking the flowers when they are in full bloom, fixing the color and shape before withering, and preserving the most natural and authentic beauty. When synesthesia occurs through the associations of episodic memory and auditory perception, sounds that one hears will activate similar visual images at the subconscious level. If we think of life as a fertile garden, all the memories in one's expansive lifetime are like nutrients for the growth of these magnificent eternal flowers of sounds. Such synesthesia blossoms into unique life stories.

The transmission and reception of sound is physically limited by the boundaries of space and distance. When sound travels, it eventually weakens to nothing as wave energy diminishes. In the mid-nineteenth century, at the end of the first Industrial Revolution, the invention of phonautograph allowed humans to trace sound waves. Following further improvements and production of new instruments, sound can be recorded and carried to specific sites, and even played across time and space. When we look at art, we can easily and visually grasp its overall forms, colors, and lines. But through hearing, because of the time limitation of sounds, we rely on the intensity, tone, timbre, and length of the sounds for reception, perception, and thought-formation. Recording the soundscape of a specific moment might be similar to reproducing the sounds. But due to variances in recording methods, recording equipment, playback equipment, and environment, the reproduced sounds might differ from the original sounds. Does "objectivity of sound" exist? How do we define the triggered synesthesia and its value?

The Eternal Soundscape-A Myriad of Everlasting Memories invites artists Nigel Brown, Siou-Ming Wu, Tsan-Cheng Wu, Pei-Chi Kuo, Pu Tsong, Kuen-Lin Tsai (names in alphabetical order) to create on-site installations that use sounds as the main medium in perceiving life. Thanks to these artworks, Taiwan's rich soundscape becomes a pathway in tracing local identities and cultural origins. As viewers immerse in these emotional memories of different generations, they can also draw the contour of the eternal soundscape in their own minds.

聲音常包含許多記憶與意義,有時候來自語言,有時則來自身體所經驗的時間與空間。藝術家透過對聲音的探索與蒐集,將環境中的聲響轉為耐人尋味的故事並剪輯成聲音紀錄片。此次邀請聲音藝術家澎葉生於2018台灣國際紀錄片影展中策劃的聲音紀錄片專題,分別為許雁婷《水上樂園》、奈鳩.布朗《家庭工廠》與澎葉生《山林》的三件委託創作,帶大家聆聽來自台灣日常生活與自然環境中的聲響,加上菲力斯・布魯姆《來自雨林的神秘之音》講述關於亞馬遜雨林的全新聲音影像作品。透過四部作品 x 四個故事 帶來不一樣的聲音-視覺感受。


Some sounds contain words, some sounds don’t but still mean something, some other sounds are more physical experiences of time and space. The recordist explores and collects these sounds, then sometimes selects and reassembles them into an audio-documentary, relating a story or an event. Three audio works commissioned by TIDF 2018, created in the old streets, seashores and mountains of Taiwan by Nigel Brown, Yannick Dauby and Yen-Ting Hsu. And an audio-visual creation from Amazonia forest by Felix Blume.

「一天早晨,葛瑞格‧薩姆撒從不安的睡夢中醒來,發現自己躺在床上變成了一隻巨大的害蟲。」(〈變形記〉,卡夫卡) 
結合編舞家羅文瑾、新媒體藝術家王連晟、聲音藝術家Nigel Brown,稻草人現代舞團將卡夫卡<變形記>的文學深度滲透到舞蹈身體與科技藝術裡,透視存在本質的意義與價值,進而剖析「蟲/虫」對人感官上及心理層面所造成的各種負面影響及刻板印象,探究我們內心深層真正的恐懼。

大音希聲 - 為一系列活動,由天語樂軒 Thian-gí Lo̍k-ian / 玩劇島小劇場 Little Play聽說 Ting Shuo hear say合辦。從傳統音樂中的南、北管為啟發,漫遊其靈感至即興與實驗音樂中的創作,並就兩者的聆聽經驗與感知來串連。

我們試著用身體提出我們對失敗內涵的解讀,在那些讓我們感到挫敗的情境裡,許多與我們如何被治理息息相關,人們被規訓的其實不只是社會關係,還有非常根本的生活,在生活中,我們自願地內化了社會控制,而社會結構的諸多矛盾也經常地被個體式的觀點給化解,這些被理解為私有的問題們,會不會其實是我們共同的失敗?

三位聲音藝術家將使用不同的音源──原音裝置、電子樂器、田野錄音以及人聲──在物質空間中共同即興作曲/演奏,以多重的聲音線交織為一片時間的綢緞。過程中,藝術家將邀請觀眾隨著指令樂譜以人聲一同回應互動。在這場三小時細膩的展演、緩慢的聲響雕塑裡,歡迎觀眾在任何時刻,進入這個可以沈下心來遊走聆聽的場域。


==藝術家簡介==

張靜如
畢業於於北藝大藝術跨領域研究所,主要從事表演與影像創作。

澎葉生
澎葉生(Yannick Dauby)的創作背景為具象音樂與即興創作,他利用現成物、電子原音裝置和黑膠唱片進行創作。作為田野錄音師,他特別關注動物和自然聲音,也對都市情境和奇特的聲音現象抱持極大的興趣。他跋山涉水採集聲音,並經常將這些素材轉化為聲響拼貼作品。澎葉生常與其他音樂家、視覺藝術家和舞蹈家合作生產影音表演與裝置,也參與過電影聲音設計。他的作品出現於各式各樣的國際藝術節、唱片廠牌和雙年展。他從2007年起定居於台灣,並一頭栽進人類學與生態學的田野,他探索台灣的音景的方法,是透過藝術面向的研究、於地方社區發展藝術計劃、紀錄動物與其生存環境,並與合作生物學家,合作創造藝術與自然科學計畫。

張惠笙
1984年生於彰化,自2003年,張惠笙曾展演於亞洲、大洋洲與歐洲各地,她的表演以即興人聲為主,並經常與國際藝術家合作。她時常發動觀眾以人聲參與表演,並認為這種演出是對於形形色色的人際互動方式的小型社會實驗──張惠笙發現,人在即興發聲時,即使沒有文字語言,仍然能夠表達出自己的性情與個人文化連結,因為人所處的社會空間深刻地影響了我們存在與互動的方式。張惠笙曾獲補助於澳洲、台灣、法國、葡萄牙、奧地利等地駐地創作。她現居台南,聲音空間「聽說」主人之一,同時也是自由創作者與藝術治療師。

Nigel Brown
Nigel Brown的聲響創作横跨多種領域,包括即興音樂表演、錄音出版製作、展覽裝置、舞蹈和劇場的聲音設計。不穩定的因素是Nigel的創作核心,他透過投身未知的狀態來創作聲音,例如,結構不穩定的樂器、陌生的環境、即興的交會,並對無法預期的結果提出回應。在2016年,Nigel與張惠笙一同創立了「聽說」,這是一個紮根台灣以推動聲音藝術和實驗性音樂創作的教育性機構與空間。

《諸眾之貌:滋事》聯展為社會行動者、文化學者黃孫權經過一年於立方學實學校一年講堂(2016),以及其所發起的「諸眾之貌」二項計畫合併的發表,由黃孫權總策劃,曾傑協同策展,內容除了「諸眾之貌─亞洲運動影像資料庫」(http://multitude.asia/)平台中關於亞洲社會運動的紀錄影音與文件之外,並且有汪彥成、張靜如、梁以妮、陳星穎、鄭明慧、賴曉瑩等2016年學實學校的成員以攝影、紀錄片、舞蹈與行為參與展出。展期至2017年10月15日。

躡步凝聽行走 Gentle Steps Listening Walks - Tainan

我們常只慣用視覺為身邊世界的主要感官接收。作為一名旅人,我們透過眼光向外探求、尋找決定性的瞬間,習於先閱讀相關資訊而後出發,若我們只用相機或眼睛收納地圖上的某一個風景名勝,有時將難以避免的減少旅行中其他體驗的機會。

透過聆聽,我們將必須把速度放慢,聲音透過時間來到我們的身邊,因為時間的流動與當下的侷限,聲音無法像空間風景全面的呈現。當我們聆聽到某個時空回應的聲音時,是否可以想像這裡的人、建築、環境與歷史各自都在表達些什麼?也許我們可以開始探索台南不這麼容易被發掘的那一面。

展場裡呈現一系列聲音創作曲目,來自行走台南各個不同地點的聽覺錄音。邀請您一起來體會如此豐富的城市聲響,也許離開展場後,也可以來場自己的『躡步凝聽行走』。

展場裡四個聆聽站中的持續單音為於行走錄音時一併攜帶,為聲音地景添加了額外的變化。在戴上耳機之前,不妨先聆聽一會兒,而後讓聲音帶領,讓自己身歷其境。

We tend to privilege sight as the primary sense for understanding the world around us. As travellers, we seek out the sights of the city, looking for the best vantage point for a photograph, maybe reading some information and then moving on. Sometimes this can reduce our experience of travelling to a series of destinations; points on a map to be collected with our eyes and our cameras. By focussing on listening, we are immediately forced to slow down: sound comes to us through time and doesn’t present its full truth in the moment. By asking ourselves “what do the sounds of this place tell me about its people, architecture, environment and history?”, we can start to discover layers of Tainan that are not immediately apparent.

This exhibition presents a series of sound recordings of walks made in different locations in Tainan. It is an invitation to focus on the rich sonic environment of the city and an encouragement to try a ‘listening walk’ yourself.

The tonal sound at each listening station adds an extra layer to the soundscape. These tones were carried on the recorded walks. Take a moment to listen before you put the headphones on, then hear it as a substitute for your body on the recorded journey.

【活動介紹】

本次聆聽會將帶給您極簡、環境的聲響及音樂。
與其他類型的音樂不同,在演出中可能不會有明顯的段落,並在一段時間中只有微妙的變化,對於沒有經驗的朋友來說,坐著聆聽一整個小時可能會是個挑戰,但是當在沒有視覺資訊可以分析的情況之下,我們便能開始慢慢認識到聲音中所存在的各種細節。

本活動進行中,我們將消除所有的視覺干擾,並讓觀眾浸入純粹的聲音環境中,歡迎聽眾以任何自己感到舒適的方式前來欣賞及體驗。

The music played or performed in the deep listening series will largely be minimal/ambient. Unlike other forms of music, the changes will be very subtle over a long duration. To the untrained ear, it may be a bit challenging to sit through a whole hour of it, but when one is placed in an environment where visual distractions are cancelled out, one begins to realize how much detail is actually present in the music. 

In these listening sessions, we will minimize visual distractions and immerse the audience in a purely sonic environment. The audience is welcome to get into whatever position that is ideal for their listening experience.

Nigel 用以一改造手風琴來製造特殊的延續聲音樂器。

Nigel Brown 從2004年大學畢業後,就一直在聲音和實驗音樂領域工作。他的廣泛興趣讓他於各界都很活躍,如即興音樂表演、錄音出版製作、展覽裝置、舞蹈和劇場的聲音設計。

他這十年來於澳洲、歐洲與東亞各地表演,小型獨立演出到大型音樂藝術節皆有。他的作品專注於實質物體的物理實驗發展,從既存的樂器或物件中找出意外的聲音可能性。

Nigel 於2006年於澳洲皇家墨爾本科技大學 (RMIT) 完成了純藝術碩士,於此大學亦於2004 年完成了媒體藝術學士,主修聲音藝術。

Nigel has deconstructed a piano accordion to create a unique drone instrument.

Nigel Brown has been working in the field of sound and experimental music since graduating from university in 2004. His range of interests have led to working in improvised performance, recording for publication, gallery-based installation, and sound design for dance and theatre.

He has performed extensively in Australia, Europe and East Asia in events ranging from major festivals to small independent gigs. His work is focussed on exploritory approaches to physical materials; finding unexpected sonic possibilities in existing instruments or other objects.

Nigel completed an MFA at RMIT University in 2006, and a Bachelor of Arts (Media Arts) in 2004, specialising in sound.

在臺北場的Depopulate 07 之後,白木耳將會在6/30星期五於新場地 玩劇島小劇場 Little Play舉辦一場台中特別版的活動。 活動主要演出會者有 Zahra Killeen-Chance (紐西蘭奧克蘭), Joke Lanz(柏林), ON (Noise Steve and Orange Hou)以及12 dog cycle (Alice Hui-Sheng Chang and Nigel Brown) 當晚會以實驗、電子音樂和舞蹈為主。

Following Depopulate 07 in Taipei, White Fungus will hold a special Taichung edition of the event at new venue Little Play on Friday, June 30. The event will feature performances by Zahra Killeen-Chance (Auckland), Joke Lanz (Berlin), ON (Noise Steve and Orange Hou), and 12 dog cycle (Alice Hui-Sheng Chang and Nigel Brown). The night will feature experimental and electronic music and dance.

[ 12 dog cycle ]
是由台灣的張惠笙和澳洲的 Nigel Brown 一同創作的表演合作。在他們的表演中,他們以聲音來探討我們對於生活四周空間與環境的體驗。惠笙用她的非傳統人聲發聲來製造與觀眾間的親暱互動,也以發聲方向來凸顯空間中的回音原音特質。Nigel Brown 的作品專注於實質物體的物理實驗發展,從既存的樂器或物件中找出意外的聲音可能性。
Nigel Brown 從2004年大學畢業後,就一直在聲音和實驗音樂領域工作。他的廣泛興趣讓他於各界都很活躍,如即興音樂表演、錄音出版製作、展覽裝置、舞蹈和劇場的聲音設計。他這十年來於澳洲、歐洲與東亞各地表演,小型獨立演出到大型音樂藝術節皆有。他的作品專注於實質物體的物理實驗發展,從既存的樂器或物件中找出意外的聲音可能性。
張惠笙於1984年生於彰化,2006年取得澳洲皇家墨爾本科技大學純藝術碩士,主修聲音藝術,於2014年墨爾本的MIECAT學院取得經驗與創意藝術治療碩士。她表演以即興為主,經常與各國聲音藝術家與其他媒材藝術家跨界合作表演。

她的身體是一個承載世界的容器,娃娃母體、星星孩子。她移動如行星運行,宇宙的引力是其行徑的脈絡,渾厚被塵土包覆。她不在地球的時間軸,總是容易被未知而準確的力量吸走。

慕一以舞蹈與[ 12 dog cycle ] 即興,回應每一個當下的發生。在這次 ‘’空外觀音‘’的演出中,她寫了一首詩,以此作為起始。

國立臺北藝術大學科技藝術研究所藝術碩士畢業,作品聚焦在聲音與影像之間的關聯,企圖融合預製與即時發生的聲音與影像,進一步拓展與回歸至空氣振動與光的沉浸與環繞。大量參與台灣聲音場景活動,如超響、失聲祭。除了個人作品之外,近年也參與舞蹈與劇場製作。

12 dog cycle is a sound art collaboration that has been developed over the past decade by Alice Hui-Sheng Chang and Nigel Brown. In their performance practice they use sound to explore our experience of the space and environment around us. Alice uses her voice in unconventional ways to create an intimate relationship with an audience and draw attention to the acoustic properties of a space. 

NIGEL BROWN has been working in the field of sound and experimental music since graduating from university in 2004. His range of interests have led to working in improvised performance, recording for publication, gallery-based installation, and sound design for dance and theatre. His work is focussed on exploritory approaches to physical materials; finding unexpected sonic possibilities in existing instruments or other objects.

ALICE HUI-SHENG was born on the 31st of July, 1984 in Changhua, Taiwan. Alice graduated from RMIT University’s MFA program (2006). Prior to the MFA she completed a Bachelor of Arts (Media Arts) at RMIT. Alice has also completed a MA in Experiential and Creative Arts Practices at the MIECAT Institute (2014). Her improvisation work often collaborate with artists from various background of culture and mediums.

Dancer / Poet / Eco Village Practitioner

Her body is a container of the world, a mother form, star child. She moves like a planet, the gravitational force of the universe is the context of her track, she covered with dust. She is not in the timeline of the earth, but on the edge of the unknown and the center of the accurate force.

In the SPACED SOUND Episode. 1, Komuyi will improvise with [ 12 dog cycle ]. She wrote a poem for the space and the performance. as follow.

[ YEH TING HAO ]

Yeh holds Master of Fine Arts from the Centre of Arts and Technology, Taipei National University of the Arts. His works showing the relationship between sound and visual also participated in many Taiwan sound scene such as TranSonic , Lacking Sound Festival. He is one of the very few Taiwanese artists who are capable of image programming , post- production and animation. Besides his own work, he has been participating in dancing and theatrical production throughout Hong Kong , Berlin , Paris ,Boston and Lisbon. He is currently a member of i/O Lab, YiLab and HH.

林其蔚是台灣聲響藝術的先鋒,並且是90年代以來參與台灣另翼文化的中堅份子。從90年代開始即投入開發聲響實驗,為噪音團體「零與聲音解放組織」中的一員,並結合身體行動、行為表演探索感官、意識的極限,與嘗試開發新的知覺模式。他對於聲音物理與身體反應之間的研究興趣,結合了對生活、社會體制與文化層面的觀察,作品中總能運用二者呈現交互指涉的意涵,林其蔚的創作運用多樣化的媒材,從身體到頻率、文件裝置、影音媒體和實驗影片拍攝,並將這些都視為「生命的雕塑」,他實踐生活就是創作,而創作也就是他的生活。除聲音、裝置等個人創作,還曾主辦過「破爛節」(1994)、「後工業藝術祭」(1995)、「裂獸之歌」 (2002)等大型活動。

Lin studied French literature, culture ethnology, and media art in different institutions between 1989-2002. His works are interpreted under diverse forms such as painting, performance, video and sound recordings. He also creates sound works with the participation of the audience. Lin was the co-founding member of Zero and Sound Liberation Organization (Z.S.L.O.), the first noise group in Taiwan. He also co-organised Taipei Broken Life Festival which marks the highpoint of the local noise movement. Since the late-1990s, Lin has been exploring in the realms of folklore culture, and through his work, integrating sound, ritual and the participation of the audience. He also is involved in research program on sound cultures. His first book dedicated to sound art research, Beyond Sound Art – The Avant-Garde, Soundchines, and the Modernity of Hearing was published in 2012.

王福瑞為台灣早期重要前衛的數位藝術以及聲音藝術藝術家兼策展人,他帶領台灣聲音藝術進入了新的領域與發展,1993年以先鋒之姿成立台灣第一個實驗音樂廠牌和出版刊物「Noise」,2000年加入台灣媒體藝術發展中少數中少數以互動為主的創作實驗團體「在地實驗」,並推動國際「異響 /Bias」聲音藝術展與「台北數位藝術獎」聲音藝術類別。王福瑞目前任職北藝大新媒系助理教授,曾工作於北藝大科技藝術中心以及台北數位藝術中心,並策劃多場相關展覽與活動,包含2008年至2012年的「超響」聲音藝術節與2007年至2009年的「台北數位藝術節」。
2015年與藝術家盧藝 Yi Lu 成立「響相工作室」(Soundwatch studio),持續致力推動海內外聲音藝術相關展覽與表演以及工作坊,該工作室致力嘗試以創新實驗性的聲音作為主要核心概念,執行聲音藝術的相關創作與其推廣計畫。

Fujui Wang is an artist and curator specialized in sound art and interactive art whose work has played a key role in establishing sound as a new artistic genre in Taiwan. A pioneer of sound art in Taiwan, in 1993 he founded NOISE, the country’s first experimental sound label. In 2000 he joined the media art collective Etat and launched the BIAS International Sound Art Exhibition and Sound Art Prize for the Digital Art Awards Taipei. 
He is currently an assistant professor of the Taipei National University of the Arts, worked for the TranSonic Lab at the Center for Art and Technology of the Taipei National University of the Arts, he has curated numerous exhibitions and festivals, including the 2008 ,2009, 2010 and 2012 editions of the TransSonic Sound Art Festival and the 2007 to 2009 editions of the Digital Art Festival Taipei. 
In 2015, Fujui Wang and another artist Yi Lu have co-founded the Soundwatch Studio to promote the creation, exhibition, performance and workshop of renovating and experimental audio art both locally and internationally.

盧藝為聲音藝術家和「響相工作室」成員。交通大學應用藝術研究所畢,曾於舊金山藝術大學AAU、舊金山藝術學院SFAI進修藝術。「響相工作室」演出於比利時「異響2015-台比聲音藝術交流計畫」以及英國「台北90-95噪音現場+逆流音樂節」開幕。另獨立在「台北數位藝術節 2015」、「超聲波 2016」等藝術活動,呈現電磁波、手工自製電子樂器、電路擾動、硬體駭客和類比錯誤聲響演出。

Yi Lu is a sound artist, a member at Soundwatch Studio. Yi Lu pursued MA degree in the Institute of Applied Arts at National Chiao Tung University, She took additional program of art from the Academy of Art University and the San Francisco Art Institute. She also has appeared performances alongside Fujui Wang, including th “B!as 2015: Taiwan-Belgium Sound Art Exchange Project” in Belgiu and the inaugural performance for “Shoot the Pianist-The Noise Scene in Taipei 1990-95 Exhibition” in U. Yi Lu has appeared solo at the “Digitopia Digital Art Festival Taipei 2015”, “Hypersonic 2016”, etc.; using electromagnetic waves, home-made electronic instruments, circuit bending, hardware hackers, and analog errors to create immersive sonic environments.

Dino,本名廖銘和,居於台北,製作古琴,並做噪音表演。臺灣90年代噪音第二波代表人物,曾為知名團體「夾子」樂隊成員。他的創作標識著九零年代後半期臺北噪音運動在技術上走向純類比電子,在內涵上建立獨立美學之里程碑。Dino 的電子音響來自於極其簡陋的模擬器材,利用線路雜音、靜電或麥克風回饋建立迴圈回路,在無音源的狀況下創造「買空賣空」的「再生音樂」(Recycle Music)。
近年來Dino 參與實驗電影、小劇場現場配樂製作,曾獲臺北電影節最佳音效獎。Dino 對於英倫龐克文化及中國古典文化研究著力甚深,這些影響當可見於其作品之中。

Dino (aka Liao Ming-He) is a guqin (an ancient stringed Chinese musical instrument) maker and noise performer based in Taipei. Once a bassist of the Clippers Band, he is a seminal figure in the second wave of the noise movement in Taiwan during the late-1990s. He uses simple analogue equipment to create electronic sound with no input, which is known as ‘recycle music’, by generating loops from circuitry noise, static, or microphone feedback. In recent years, Dino participates in experimental films and live music production for the theatre. He was awarded Best Sound Effects in Taipei Film Festival (2003). Dino is particularly fond of British punk subculture and traditional Chinese classics, of which the influence can be found from his works.

Tremor brings together creator Ashley Dyer and diverse collaborators in an intense sonic/kinetic encounter. Sound creates movement, movement creates sound: when the resonant frequency of a thing, system, or even a person is reached, it sings in sympathy. When the amplitude is too great, it breaks.

Tremor is kinetic sculpture, musical instrument and dance performance combined: touch, vibration, perception and motion are at the core of the work. It’s a seismic movement, a physical manifestation of trauma, an attempt to heal. It’s an overflow of pressure – on the body and on the planet.

這些簡單的聚集是一邀請,來參與聲音藝術家 Nigel Brown 的研究實作:以行走的體驗來達成專注聆聽的狀態。如 Salome Voegelin 在「聆聽噪音與靜音:走向聲音藝術的哲學 (Bloomsbury, 2013)」中寫到:「聽覺是由實際聆聽中產出」,不同於「觀看的自身,身體與所見物間有一個距離... 聽者與聽見物是互依互存的。」
9月的四個星期二,Nigel 會出發並回到聽說 Studio 來做聆聽行走。參與者可以加入行走,並於最後一起討論分享。一個由電風扇傳動的簧片樂器將陪伴行走的大家,對聲音環境進行團體存在的貢獻。

These simple sessions are an invitation to participate in the research practice of sound artist Nigel Brown; focussing on the experience of walking for the purpose of active listening. 
As Salome Voegelin explains in ‘Listening to noise and silence: Towards a philosophy of sound art’ (Bloomsbury, 2013), “the auditory is generated in the listening practice”. Unlike the “viewing self, whose body is at a distance from the seen... the listener is entwined with the heard.”
For four consecutive Tuesdays in September, Nigel will undertake a listening walk that departs from and arrives back at Ting Shuo Studio. Participants may join the walk and a short discussion at the end. A fan powered drone reed instrument will accompany the walkers as a contribution to the auditory city that will mark the presence of the group in interaction with the environment.
